In a few hours, I will be stuffing myself with all sorts of yummy, high calorie food, but before I become bloated and sleepy, I'd like to share of lists of things I am thankful for this year, ala today's Cheers and Jeers.
I'm thankful for my twin sister who is a moderate but has her heart in the right place. I'm thankful for my parents who have supported me through everything. I am thankful for my extended family, even the Republicans, and especially thankful for my grandfather, John Thomas Rosch, a Federal Trade Commissioner, who taught me great skills for debating with the right wing. I'm thankful for my all my teachers, but mostly my Latin and government teacher who have to put up with me nearly every single day. I'm thankful for my boyfriend.
I'm thankful for the GM ad today during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I'm thankful for the parade itself, and for NBC. I'm thankful for all news networks who strive towards giving a fair and balanced look at the world. I am thankful for CNN, MSNBC, and Comedy Central. I'm thankful for Anderson Cooper, Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Wolf Blitzer, Stephen Colbert, and Jon Stewart. I'm even a little thakful for Fox and their cast, for providing me with endless amusement.
I'm thankful for the Democrats in Senate, especially Al Franken, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Patty Murray, Russ Feingold, and well, the list is too long for me to thak you all. I'm thankful for Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, and Bernie Sanders for often joining the Democrats. I am thankful for Speaker Pelosi and Leader Reid. I'm thankful for our incumbents in the house and our new freshmen.
I'm thankful for Americans who aren't afraid to stand up and say what they believe in, even if I don't agree with them. I'm thankful for our heroes in the firefighters, police officers, prison guards, paramedics, and all other public servants. I'm thankful for our military and hope every single person out fighting can come home safe.
I'm thankful for our president, Barack Hussein Obama. I'm thankful for the American people electing him. I'm thankful for California voters who ignored a sea of red to elect the most progressive state government in history. I'm thankful to John Boehner, Sharron Angle, Sarah Palin, and all those other wingnuts for guaranteeing the Democrats four more years in the White House. I'm thankufl for anyone who cares enough to vote.
I'm thankful for America and for the world.
What are you thankful for?
